Default Hot Springs or other mountain areas

Hello, everyone, I am new to this forum. My husband and I are looking to relocate to a mountain area for Virginia. We are both retiring from the military and have 3 children, twins 7, and a 10 year old. I will be doing some consultant work from home. 3 or 4 years ago we visited the Homestead in Hot Springs Va. We took the route through Northern Va and fell in love with the areas we passed through during the last 2 hours of the trip. It was right before Christmas and all the neighborhoods seemed so cozy and inviting.

My question is, would we fit in there? We are African American. Thanks for any advice, and any recommendations of areas to live.

I don't know anything about the Hot Springs area, but you sound like the kind of neighbors and friends I would love to have! I love the mountains too and bought land in Scott County (SWVA) a few years ago, with hopes of building a log home up there someday.
I hope someone from Hot Springs responds to your post. Best of luck!

Hello, I know that area too. I also have visited the Homestead 3 times and I just LOVE the drive! I did meet one or two of the employees at the hotel who were African American who lived in the mountains there. They seemed to really like it. I think most of the minorities at the hotel live in some type of dorm housing, though.

P.S. I'm African American and I did ask some rather direct questions, if you know what I mean.
