If you are moving to Kilmarnock , Northern Neck Va. You may want to check out the Rappahannock Record. www rrecord dot com
http://www.rrecord.com/index.asp I thionk it is the only local newspaper for Kilmarnock, Va. They have an online version also.

Good luck in your move , What a nice place to live.

Yes, Mr. Williamsburg is correct about The Rappahannock Record (www.rrecord.com) being the local newspaper. The website is updated each Thursday with the new Help Wanted ads. There are several other Northern Neck newspapers, but The Rappahannock Record is the only one available on the web.

Unfortunately this area is not a job-hunters paradise! There are lots of retirees in the area so there is big demand for medical/nursing/physical therapist skills. We have lots of real estate firms (with lots of new agents), some banks, some law practices, some small manufacturing firms. In Kilmarnock itself, the major employers are Rappahannock General Hospital, Chesapeake Bank, Bank of Lancaster and the Tides Inn (a resort). Food Lion is the only major grocery chain with a presence here.

You may also want to take a look at the site www.indeed.com for recent job postings in this area. Mostly you'll find openings for electricians, mechanics, nurses, physical therapists, admin assistants, marina help, restaurant-related needs, assistant-manager/manager for gas stations, Hardees, payday loan companies, etc.. If you have any accounting experience, there are occasional openings for that background.

I mailed my resume to several area companies unsolicited and was discouraged that only one company acknowledged my contact. And I keep hearing that companies here can't find good help. Go figure!

Kilmarnock is scheduled to have a WalMart Supercenter open later this year, but I don't think that will attract the type job position you have in mind.

Good luck with your move and let us know if there's anything else you need.
