Alexandria, VA
I visited Alexandria, VA back in August of this year for the first time, and I was amazed at how much there is to do there. Does anyone have any information on housing prices for that area? I hear it can be pretty pricey, but any information would be great.
Thanks!!

You might get more responses if you posted this in the Northern Virginia section, since this is where Alexandria is located.

Compared to Lawrence KS, it probably will look a bit pricey, but then again a change in salary might make up for it. Plug a couple of Alexandria zip codes into a real estate search and see what you end up with.

You can use - Property Finder to check home prices. Old Town Alexandria is in the 22314 zip code.
From MRIS for October, for the entire City:
Average Sold Price: $ 444,550
Median Sold Price: $ 400,000

Housing prices will really depend on the areas of Alexandria. If you are looking at Old Town, it will get very, very expensive to include the area known as Del Ray. YOu are talking maybe $700,000 for a townhome on the low end. However, Alexandria is pretty big so there will be areas that are a lot more reasonable in the $400,000 for a SFH, but it really depends. You can also try www.homesdatabase.com to look at all of Alexandria.

If you are considering condos inside the authentic Alexandria City limits, a pretty decent one can be found for a little over $200k. SFHs the bare minimum start at under $400k if you are lucky.
