Hello:
We'd like to be bi-coastal in retirement and are interested in a nice town with an historic flair, but is close enough to drive to DC for all of its events, museums, etc. We would want to buy a smaller old house, land would be nice but not imperative, in which to spend spring and fall seasons. A smaller historic town that has restaurants, would be great.

Thanks for your help.

Leesburg, VA comes to mind.

Occoquan might be too "sandwiched" amongst other things.

Yes, (on the Virginia side of things) Leesburg would be a good option for sure....

Other possibilities:
Fredricksburg, VA
Winchester, VA (probably a bit too far from D.C.)
