We own 50 acres in Bedford Co. where we plan to retire. We are interested in communicating with anyone in the area who has built an environmentally friendly house. Or even looked into building one. My husband has excellent layman's expertise, but the construction techniques are different than traditional techniques; e.g., SIPS instead of wood framing, spray-in foam instead of standard insulation, foundation panels instead of poured concrete, etc. We have already sold our baby-boomer "McMansion" are planning a much smaller, high quality Craftsman type house. So if anyone on this forum has tried somehting similar in the Bedford area, we would like to learn from your experiences. Thanks.

Great question, but I don't have answers for you! I'm hoping someone can chime in, because I'm very interested in green building myself. Anybody out there have experience in this?
