I will be moving to Alexandria, VA in May of 2009. I will be a recent college graduate. Could any provide me with some help on apartments to live in and around Old Town or the following Metro's -Van Dorn, Huntington, Franconia- Springfield, or King Street. We are looking for a two bedroom apartment within walking distance to a metro with a price range up to $1800.

Thank you!

With that budget, you'll be able to find someplace decent. HomesDatabase will have rentals that are listed with Realtors, although addresses usually aren't given; a broker's site (like McEnearney - Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland Real Estate Services), that's also linked to the MRIS, will give address, too. Sites like Apartments - Official ApartmentGuide.com have some buildings that handle their rentals without outside agent help. And there's always craigslist.

Consider adding the Braddock Road and Eisenhower Ave. Metros to your list. Braddock Rd. places N. Old Town within walking distance, and there's a lot of new(er) construction around Eisenhower. I would focus first on the areas around Kings St., Eisenhower, and Braddock Rd., and then look at Van Dorn, Huntington, and Franconia-Springfield.

You may want to also post on the Washington DC site, since they are right across the river from each other.

I second the suggestion to post this topic in the Northern Virginia forum.

I used to live at Riverside Park Apts. There are 3 high rise buildings on the property, gated entry, shuttle to the Huntington station. Price wasn't bad, that was 10 years ago, however.

Good luck on your search.
