Moving to Ft. Story (Virginia Beach, Hampton: school, living, prices)

Hello!

We, my husband, our 2 kids, our 2 dogs and I will be moving (pcs'ing) to Ft. Story in the beginning of February.
Can someone tell me anything about the area? I know it is right by Virginia Beach.
How expensive is it there? How is traffic up there? Which area's should we avoid?
If everything goes well, we will be living on-post (depends how long we have to wait).
I already found out, that my oldest son will attend Dey Elementary Schoo. Is it a good school? He is doing Karate here in NC, is there any good Karate school around, with ok prices and not to far from Ft. Story?

Unfortunately I do not have too much personal experience with Ft. Story as to living there. I have been on the installation when visiting with my husband. You will probably get more information if you post the question on the Hampton Roads sub-forum. Good luck with the PCS; I hope it goes well for you and your family!
