I was just wondering if anyone has any first-hand knowledge of the employment market for teachers (specifically, secondary Special Ed) in Virginia -- preferably the Charlottesville/Albemarle County area? Are there any other districts that are in need of teachers with that certification?

Thanks!

I would think secondary special ed would be in demand almost anywhere.

My friend got into Special Ed (before finishing her degree) easily in Fairfax County.

Try the State site VDOE :: Careers in Virginia Education . This will show jobs all over the state, it's not all inclusive but it will give you an idea whas available. If you see a district that interest you can visit their site for a complete list.

Good Luck

I believe that there may be such positions available in Roanoke County, Roanoke City and neighboring Franklin County. It's a beautiful region, quite comparable in terms of quality of life and natural beauty to the C'ville area.

Default Spec Ed is in demand in Hampton Roads

That is an incorrect statement for Hampton Roads. Nearly every community will offer an early commitment contract for Spec. Ed. and is hiring for very little else. I work for Va Beach schools and know of people who are getting these jobs. Don't give up!

Seeking a list of private schools in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, and Portsmouth, Va and surrounding area.
