C-ville schools, neighborhoods
Hello,
I am considering a move from metro NY (Conn) to C-ville. Can someone fill me in some more about the differences btwn Albemarle schools and neighborhoods. I see for high schools there are Western Albm, Albemarle, and Monticello (maybe more?). Any great differences?
I see some neighborhoods mentioned in listings, such as Earlysville, Crozet, Keswick. Any preferences, descriptions?
In particular, I like suburbs but the suburbs here are probably different and I wouldn't want to be too isolated.
Also, how are the sports programs for kids and are any schools or areas better for sports? Thanks.

Hello,
On schools in Charlottesville, Albemarle county, you would be best served by reading about ratings and parent reviews on these sites:

In general, in my opinion there are no bad schools and your pick will depend on your child's needs.
I have always preferred the city living and my child trully enjoys Burnley Moran Elementary. We as parents think BM is great school....
As for the neighborhoods, there is a vast variety of life styles in different school districts.
Rural or rather closer to the city amenities? Charlottesville, being a small town offers both city-life style and also a quiet and peaceful.
To be more specific, I would have to know what your interest and needs are.
My best, Tanja

Thanks Tanja. I think we would prefer a little outside the city but not way out. so in other words not downtown but not too rural. We don't need a bunch of acres, just a decent size yard for the dogs!
How about townhouses to rent? I'm thinking that's a better way to go. SO maybe the way to go is decide on school district then try to find a condo or townhouse in that area, but that might not be easy.

Hello,
I agree, it would make most sense for you to pick a school district first. In that case, you will probably be checking out 22911 or 22903 zip codes (considering "not too rural, and just a little outside the city"). There are townhomes for rent available too.
Let me know, I will be happy to help you out.
