Default Why are VA Athletes Hooligans?

Michael Vick's dogs, Marcus Vick at Burger King, Allen Iverson's shooting, Plexico's self-shooting, the Tech players (would be pro's) that sold drugs, others I'm forgetting.....

What's the deal? Why do some many VA Pro (and high-profile college) players act like they're still in the Ghetto? It makes the state seem like a bunch of Thugs!!

I think the better question is why do athletes in general act like hooligans? Escpecially those drawing a multi-million dollar salary. If you think VA is the only state with (former) athletes that run "sideways" with the law, then you are naive to say the least. If I were to write about all the athletes from say...Florida..who have run amuck of the law, I'd be typing so long my finges would bleed...once again, the state of origin has NOTHING to do with contributing to thuggish, egotistical, juevenile, behavior by athletes...promise you...

A better question whould be: why does the Hampton Rhodes region of VA produce such freaky good athletes?

The Tidewater area does produce a high number of good athletes, but not necesarily a lot of "freaky" good athletes. The main reason-it's a high population area, thus a higher chance of more athletes. The Richmond and NoVa areas have also produced a good number of pro athletes.

The player's you mentioned come from rough areas that can have a high influence on how you do things (often negatively). I'm from Allen iverson's hometown of Hampton and i can tell you you can always leave the hood but the hood dont always leave you. Money dont always solve your problems and sometimes it makes them worse just ask Michael Vick.

Besides Hampton Roads dosen't just produce thuggish athletes. Just look at the guy who will be coaching the Steelers in the Super Bowl this weekend Mike Tomlin (born and raised in Newport News.) David Wright from Chesapeake is turning into one of baseball's third basemen. I could go on and on on star players from Hampton Roads who are keeping themselves out of trouble
