Default Towns near Waynesboro?

My husband just got a jon in Waynesboro, VA. We are really excited about moving to VA. While the town is nice...it's a little too...vacant? Rural? I'd like to live somewhere a bit more populated with a little more in the area. PLUS, someone told us about gangs there? We are seriously considering Charlottesville (Spelling?) But we wanted other suggestiong as well. He is willing to commute up to 40 minutes. Ideally, low crime, good schools, and more neighborhoods? If that makes sense? I'd appreciate any help!

Charlottesville is close, but the cost of living there is higher than in Waynesboro. Plus, your husband would have to drive "over the mountain" which, during the winter months, could be difficult/dangerous. But it's a lovely town (and home of UVA).

Not sure about gangs in Waynesboro, if any they would be associated with Hispanic laborers. Waynesboro region is overall nice.

i'm a teen and i live in waynesboro. yeah there is gangs. but there is gangs everywhere. your going to have a bigger problem if you live in downtown waynesboro. and our gangs usually lay low unless you bother them. so don't worry about that. i think waynesboro is pretty well populated. and charlottesville is ok but your going to have to deal with some serious traffic. (there is gangs there too by the way) and crossing the mountain on a regular basis is not recommended. you will kill your car.

If Waynesboro is "too rural" for you?? Then the only other 2 options would be Harrisonurg or Charlottesville. Thats it. Your only other choices within even an hour drivetime.
So pick one of those, or don't take the job.

btw - Cville is most likely what you are looking for, it is more $$ than Waynesboro for sure......and IMHO the drive over the mountain is not a problem at all. I drive it over 33 in the winter and even "that" isnt a problem.

Good luck
