What aboot Virginia is Northern?
Can someone explain to me what makes us in any way shape or form "Northern"? Outside the immediate DC Metro area of course, I cant find anything Northern, except maybe all the tourists in Colonial Wiliamsburg!
We are Southern! Someone tries to claim we are Mid-Atlantic because we have both Northern and Southern qualities.
We are doing well- can a state not be wealthy and Southern at the same time? Georgia is pretty wealthy next to us . They are certainly Southern to me.
I dont see what aboot us is Northern. Can someone fill me in? Do it quick, Im brewing a pot of sweet tea.

The only reason this conversation is worth having is because of Northern VA. If we did the right thing and kicked Northern VA out of Virginia, we'll be in little danger of losing our southerness.
Richmonder27, if you are really concerned about Northern VA turning VA Northern and want to start a petition to kick Northern VA out of Virginia, just to let you know i'll be the first one to sign it. Northern VA dont want Virginia and Virginia dont want Northern VA.

LOL - Northern VA and Southern VA do sometimes (well, mostly always) seem like entirely different states.

Okay, maybe the question should be exactly how "northern" is Northern Virginia. I realize its Northern for Southerners. But I have friends from the Northeast who actually feel NOVA is kinda Southern for them. So its all relative, isnt it?
I grew up in Loudoun, but I was born in 1979. So it was different area back then. But growing up folks were friendly and said hello and such.
Of course Loudoun isnt the immediate DC Metro area.
What about Northern Virginia is Northern?
Well its harder to get sweet tea for one. But other than that, what else?

Richmonders can be pretty stuck up. So are Charlestonians, and Savannahians. But I know what you mean.
