My wife and I moved from Boston, MA to Raleigh, NC to Farmville, VA. Out of all three we like Farmville the best. You have a sense of identity, a place that is home. I am excited about the new growth in the town, just check out all the things the YMCA is doing. We are actually planting a new church in Farmville. We were able to select any town in the states of VA and NC and we chose Farmville. We think there are great people, great histories and traditions, it is safe and boutique in many ways. Good food, family fun, and wonderful people. We look forward to meeting more of you... :-)

We love our church being part of the community, not some conglomerate, production-driven show, but real, ordinary people who are living, working, and worshiping together. Learning what it means to be followers of Jesus in today's world. We wouldn't want it any other way.

Hey, come visit us sometime! We get together Sunday's 10:30 AM at the Farmville YMCA, or find any one of our Discipleship Groups around town, or give me a call - tis all good!

If you are talking about boarding there are quit a few barns/stables. I don't think there are homes for rent that are horse friendly but there are places that are close to town that are for sale that have nice land to maybe put fencing up and a small barn/run-in.

Doesn't Farmville have that hardware store that sets up the big train display through the Christmas season?

No, the hardware store with the giant seasonal model train display, is in the town of BLACKSTONE (30 miles to the east). Incidentally, Blackstone (Fort Pickett), just this summer was chosen to be the site of the Federal diplomatic security training school - which will eventually bring about 1,000 jobs to that town.

Besides the new YMCA, Farmville has a little-theater the "Waterworks Players" as well as cultural events at Longwood Univ. and Hampden-Sydney college. There is also a long rail-trail (the High Bridge Trail ??) just north of town, and a Barnes and Noble bookstore.

On my last visit to Farmville a few years ago, the Barnes and Noble was right downtown in a newly-built little walkable shopping block, that jutted off of Main Street (U.S. Route 15). I wonder whether it's still in business ?

I know this thread is a few months old i hope i can still find the answer i am looking for. I am 26 years old and i am a single mother of 2 young children i am a medical assistant and receptionist for orthopedic specialist in PA now. But i would love to relocate in or around farmville, my aunt resides there and she loves it, however she is 70 years old so i would love to get opinions from others. Would this be a good move for me, considering my age and status. Where i live now it has a high crime rate and drugs are horrible I do know that drugs are everywhere but someplaces their not as bad. THANKS IN ADVANCE
