Do you know what you're talking about because i sure don't. Henrico is it's own postal address and everything now. Just because you personally do not acknowledge the proper geographical locations of the city from counties does not make it the standard rule for everyone else also..

BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!! Thanks for the laughs, guys! If some of you "bundle up in winter coats" when it's in the mid-50s, then VA will be considerably warmer-feeling than PA!

I don't sit on my computer all day and argue about the weather normally because I have to leave around 6am. You do realize I was not accounting for humidity and the wind speed right? Surely had I known this was going to be discussed in such detail I would have been more specific. This also depends on your idea of a "winter coat" because my winter coat is similar to a flight jacket.
Before trying (and failing) to be condescending, how about a few 8th grade Geoglogy classes? Yes it is cold around 6am here in Richmond. I also said it was rainy and windy on that day, did I not? Just because it is a certain temp does not mean it is going to FEEL that way. I didn't think that I would have to go into such detail... oh that's right, the people that I'm talking to ARE NOT EVEN IN THE SAME CITY I'M TALKING ABOUT IN THE FIRST PLACE.
I don't understand why weather is so funny to you, but I'm sure thats a whole different topic.

I too plan a trip to the Roanoke area this summer so Marrilynnp please post your impressions as time permits. Last night I talked to a cousin in Ohio who strongly recommended western Virgina as a place to retire. So, can anyone post information regarding health care, taxes, flood zones, and cost of living? Thank you.

um no actually it is in the mid 50s and it is raining. Yes you do need a winter coat unless you're crazy. It does not seem like VA has seasons anymore it is either hot or cold, I have not seen spring/fall in a year or two.
|
just saw this...weather is VERY subjective depending on what you're used to. As a prior CT resident living in VA, I can tell you that VA has a laughable winter in comparison and you'll be amazed at how many people get bundled up in winter coats and hats and scarves for anything short of a blizzard (and especially when its 50 and rainy). get an umbrella and you'll be find for 90% of the winter here.

Now I will say that Va weather is strange. One weekend in March or April will be 70 deg then the next will be in the 50's. But today in Richmond for example its in the mid 60's, much too warm for a winter coat. I agree Va can have its cold days in the winter but that is what the winter is all about. Va has its seasons and thats what makes it so wonderful. I could never live in a place without its distinct four seasons (winter, spring, summer and fall). My adivice to the OP is that Va. weather is actually much warmer than Ct. but will never have the weather that Texas has if I wanted to live in Texas weather I would live in Texas! I honestly dont like 80-90 deg days in April (even though this weekend is in the 80's!) Now as for the summer it does get very hot and muggy here but it dosnt last that long, I would say 2-3 months of the year. Move to Va. and enjoy all it has to offer including great weather! Its hard for me to pin-point one particular city for you since there are many wonderful ones to live in here. If you like the fast paced life check out Northern Va. ie: fairfax, arlington, ect. For a more laid back atmosphere check out Roanoke, friendly folks, great school systems, and a very good cost of living. Or for a mix of the two Richmond. If you have any more questions feel free to Private Message me. Have a good day!

Can you tell me something about the UVA area? Is it laid back with great school systems? I'm getting tired of the fast paced life.Thank you.
