Which city do you like better?
We are buying our first home. Wonder what you guys think about the following places? Considering the overall reputation of each city....
- Manassas
- Manassas Park
- Gainesville
- Bristow

Depends on which part of each city your talking about. Overall, I would say Gainsville and Bristow are good choices, but there are parts of Manassas that are really nice too. I would put Manassas park on the bottom of the list though. That's just my personal opinion.

I agree with Michelle too. Keep in mind that, overall, Gainesville will be the most expensive area on that list as well.

I actually wouldn't even have Manassas Park on the list. Yeah, it's pretty cheap, but for a reason. Schools, crime rate, age of homes, etc. Parts of Manassas are nice, but a lot are either buried in older neighborhoods and/or are in very congested areas. I would pick Gainesville or Bristow only because they are new, up and coming communities where home values are only going to climb for a while. There are also plenty of amenities being added there every day. And, all are still cheaper than Fairfax and Loudoun.
One of the best ways for a home to retain and increase in value is to be located in a great school district. Once again, Gainesville and Bristow will win that one.

I agree with the ranking that everyone else has come up with.
I did all my house/city research from the internet too. It's funny the idea you get of cities without having been there yet. I thought Bristow was bigger than Gainesville, but it's more of a few HUGE neighborhoods with a safeway grocery store in the middle. But that may be more my limited opinion.
You can't really go wrong with Gainesville or Bristow, but I guess I'd give the the nod to Gainesville location wise because it's closer to 66.
Just be aware that Linton Hall that goes down the middle of these 2 cities is being 4 laned at the moment and is quite the mess. But it's going to be great when it is finished.
