Harrisonburg? I don't think so. They're very hostile to and resentful of the University kids in town. Usually college towns are cool, but HBurg's not one of them. Lots of meth heads around there too.

I agree the Shenandoah Valley people are the friendliest, especially north of Roanoke. I have even been waved at by a cop in Buena Vista! In some of the rural towns north of Roanoke the people are very welcoming of "outsiders".
Southwest of Roanoke or "SW VA" people are friendly but TO EACH OTHER!
With all of the mountain ranges in that part of the state it is like "Hatfields
& McCoys" land. Once the SW VA & West VA people get to know you they will
adopt you as their very own. Eastern Tennessee people beat everyone hands down as far as welcoming "outsiders" in my opinion, although we are talking about VA.
