Should We Move?
Hiya everyone! I am an Aussie gal who is thinking of moving to Richmond Virginia with my husband and mum. I have to be honest I am alittle scared of the crime etc so was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on whether they think its a good place to live? The other places we were considering were, NC, SC & Rural Florida. Many thanks

The Richmond metro area as a whole is quite safe... there are certain parts of the inner city which aren't so safe. What type of environment would you all live in? If you're thinking suburban, chances are the "crime" would not be near you.

rich is correct, the outlying areas are some of the nicest in the state.

Thanks everyone..though I must admit I thought I would have more opinions than just two haha but I do appreciate your help. Quiet and rural is good for us but dont want to have to drive an hour to go to the mall but Richmond sounds nice so far, thanks again all "hugz"

Ewww.. I wouldn't suggest living in rural florida... yuck.
As for Richmond, like others said before me, if you're looking to live in sub-urbs or rural areas, then you'll be fine. In the Richmond area, you can still find rural property that's only a 20 minute drive from a mall. I would recommend focusing on West and North of Richmond.
*edit* also, about the lack of replies... you did post really early on a wednesday morning... let people at least get home from work. lol

Why Im Leaving
Well I am leaving Oz to go to Virginia as my husband is American and it is easier for me to go there to live then it is for him to come to Australia as he has security clearences and things like that plus he can get work through the company he is with now so it is easier all round haha. If I had a real choice I wouldnt leave Australia but it will be great to experience something new!!!
