Any opinions or advice about Fauquier County schools namely Kettle Run High School and Auburn Middle? How do they compare to Prince William County school?
My family of five relocated to Gainesville, December 2007 from New England (husband takes Broad Run VRE into DC). It was a long and difficult search for a home in an area that fits our needs and budget. We ended up buying a big, beautiful, new home on a teeny tiny lot (no privacy!). The neighborhood will eventually be very nice but also very crammed in once it's all built out (which could be a while). My kids are middle/high school ages--feel we don't have the time or paitence to put up with construction, etc. Unfortunately the distance from our house to the high school is about as far away as one can be--very disconnected.
We decided to sell our current home while searching Nokesville and Warrenton (leaning towards Warrenton dc-side) for a home that better fits our criteria: larger lot, in an established neighborhood, close to schools, staying within 20 min of the VRE within an affordable price range for us (getting closer to college tuition-eek).
Does anyone have opinions about Kettle Run High School and/or Auburn Middle School? Quality of academics and teaching staff? I have checked greatschool website (plus some others) but have not gotten any info on KRHS ratings/feedback (probably b/c just completing it's first year). My high schooler will be a junior next fall. He has already endured a school change and a difficult move (this could be his 3rd hs). I am concerned about switching schools on him but feel it could turn out to be a positive: more opportunities in sports, extra-curricular and academics due to smaller sized school. Need help doing the right thing overall for my family. ~OWW
