Gangs in Galax - crime?
I was in the Galax area for four days over the recent long weekend. In walking around the town, talking to shopkeepers, and exploring nearby, it appears that MS-13 has made an appearance even here, and that there is a gang concentration in an area called "Little Cuba" .
What gives? Have the illegal alien criminal elements laid down roots? If so, is the law enforcement and criminal justice system fighting back, or have they given up? Is there still hope for the area?
I currently live in Northern Virginia, in Loudoun County, where MS-13 and the illegal alien invasion have turned a couple of fairly decent, formerly working class communities into gangland central - Sterling and Manassas. Drive by shootings, drugs, public drunkenness, 3 am brawls over women - it is not a good environment if you are in late middle age and are therefore an easy target.
I wanted to move to the Galax area before hearing the information about MS-13 and the crime. But if I buy a house there, and it is this kind of area, it would be a mistake that is too late in life for me to rectify by getting out and starting over.
Is Galax also going down the slippery slope of illegal aliens and gangs?
