Default Visiting the Northern Neck area

We currently live in No. VA but are looking at other areas of the state, maybe for retirement in 5-7 years, so are visiting the Nothern Neck area this weekend. Will be staying overnight in Tappahannock, so I thought we'd explore around Fredericksburg Saturday early, maybe try to see a couple of the "active adult living" communities, then head down the neck area the rest of the day, then have Sunday to look around before heading back to the reality of life up here. Any suggestions on what to check out? Thanks.

Check out the Northern Neck Visitor's Guide at Welcome to Virginia Real Estate Reviews, Inc.. You should be able to find a paper copy at a convenience store or realtor's office once you're in NNK territory. Northern Neck is a large territory, and if you have a preference to stay close to NOVA, you might want to start your search in the King George, Westmoreland county areas.

I lived in the Ophelia area of Northumberland County for 6 years -- about 50 minutes drive from Tappahannock -- but I preferred being close to the Chesapeake Bay vs. more inland on a creek/river. Most of our neighbors were from NOVA and MD. Reedville, Kilmarnock, Irvington and White Stone were quaint towns closer to me than Tappahannock.

Enjoy your visit!
