Default City Girl's Husband Work Wallops Island -Where to Live?

HELP! My husband and I (20s) will be relocating from Dallas to the Eastern Shore. My husband will be working @ Wallops Island and we've been looking for weeks trying to find the best place to live and haven't had much luck.

Is there ANYWHERE TO LIVE between Wallops Island and Virginia Beach/Norfolk? Anything at all?

Does it really take 2 hours to drive from Wallops Island to VB/Norfolk??

I live 3 miles from Downtown Dallas and I am used to walking to the grocery store, mall & movie theater in about 10 minutes. I was pretty excited to see that Salisbury actually had a mall but now that I have spent some time reading up on the area, I am thinking I'd rather drive 30 mins to get there.

I am pretty sure I don't want to live in Salisbury anymore, but what does that leave with an hour or less drive?

Thanks!

I hate to break it to you but the only urban area remotely like dallas within 200 miles of Wallops Island is Norfolk/ Virginia Beach and it's a long drive and you have to pay $12 one way to cross the chesapeake bay to get to virginia beach

Not a thing so get ready to learn how to be a country girl because there is nothing close to you.......Salisbury Maryland is the closest "city" to you which I am sure you have found out already there is not much there......but trust me in 6 months you will think Salisbury is NYC compared to everything else around you.....

Yes it takes that long to get to Va Bch.......plus you have the toll to pay to cross the Chesapeake Bay bridge tunnel anytime you want to head to/from Va Bch........Also you will learn you cant get anywhere fast on the Eastern Shore as route 58 is one of the biggest speed traps in the State of Virginia.......You will find out pretty fast you will have to travel to the Washington DC/ Baltimore area is you want anything that big cities offer

*sigh* Ive given up on any hope of being a city girl. I could do with a change of pace, i just wasn't expecting there to be NOTHING. I had a realtor pull all of the available places to rent on the entire VA eastern shore and there were only about 12 homes for rent.

I am going to try to look for homes in pocomoke, chincoteague and captains cove. wish me luck! Thanks for the help.

I live in Pocomoke. Check with the Courthouse and the Chamber of Commerce. They keep lists of landlords to save you time. We live 30 minutes from Ocean City, MD., Chincoteague, VA., and Salisbury, MD. It's about a 20 minute drive to Wallops Island. Traffic's not too bad. Rarely do you need to apply brakes if you're not tailgating. Things around here are a bit more relaxed and slow.
