Default HELP! How to correct the mistake of missing toll fee?

Yesterday, I drove from the tysons corner to leesburg, when I went through the first toll station, I took the wrong lane which only takes EZ-pass, when I realized it, it was too late to change the lane. Thus, I didn't pay the toll fee (75 cent), which was not on purpose. I just moved to this area a couple of days ago, and haven't got familiar with the roads and pay tolls yet.

Does anyone know how to correct the mistake before I get the ticket for the fine? for example, whom I should contact with to make up for the fee? Or if there is any phone number I can call to explain the situation and pay the toll fee in order to avoid the fine?
Or what I can do is to wait for the ticket and then call them to dispute?
Any ideas?

Thanks a lot!

RSMTN is on a distinguished road
Same thing happened to me in NJ several years ago. I kept looking in my rear view mirror thinking the police would give chase for such an offense. Nothing happened. Several weeks later I recieved a letter in the mail with a picture of my car going thru the toll booth along with a fine of $20 plus the 50 cent toll. No jail time <g>

If you go through an EZ-Pass lane without an EZ-Pass the machine takes a photo of your license plate, so they will ticket you. What I would suggest doing would be to go to the link provided by CalieCat and call the number corresponding to the closest location and explain the situation to them, they may be able to do something; if not like RSMTN said, it's just a small fine.

Also if you're going to be going through toll lanes a lot why not get an EZ-Pass? I just got one a few months back and it makes things so much easier!
