Hello, I went to visit Richmond, VA in October and fell in love with it so now I plan to move to Virginia in late November 2010.

Can anyone tell me the areas that are not high risk for flood and that are great for a single woman in the hairstylist industry, and I would rather be close to Washington DC.

Wait, do you want to live near Richmond, or in Northern VA ('Near DC')?

Also, are you looking to rent or own? house or apartment? Price range? What kind of town do you like?

More info would be helpful.

I would like to live at least 30 to 40 min outside of DC. Will be renting, price range: $600-1300 for 1/1 bedroom.

I like a town with a city like feel with no long driving for malls and basic things.

Just so you aren't shocked, Northern VA can pretty expensive and driving isn't the most fun. The further out, the cheaper typically so that should help.
