My husband and I are organic farmers looking for the right place to land.

Any information you might be able to provide about Virginia would be very helpful:

We are searching for an area with:

good soil where we can buy 60 to 100 acres for under 350,000.
strong markets for organic produce.
Close to a town of 7,000 or more people, with a library, a café.
Vibrant community with lots of opportunities for children (ie sports, music, dance, art, etc.).
Waldorf or other charter type schools or homeschooling groups.
Liberal/ progressive/ tolerant minded people (no racism, sexism, other discrimination).

Thanks!

You'd have to go way out in the boonies to get that much land for that price. Unfortunately things aren't so liberal out there. The only place I can think of that might work for you would be Nelson County, South of Charlottesville.

I'm watching this thread! This is the same kind of area I'd like to relocate to. And, I'm a hardcore organic produce customer.

You might look in the Farmville area; it's a college town of about 7,000 in the middle of an agricultural area. Calling it "liberal" would be a stretch except by comparison with nearby towns.

Yodiemo,

Do repost in Illinois. You'll have no more problems.
