Hi everyone I am starting a bus company base in Richmond VA, so what I need is some feedback from all you commuters out there.

From Richmond VA to Where> ?

Charlotte, NC ? Maybe somewhere else in NC or SC?

Norfolk, VA ? Maybe West Virginia?

Washington, DC ?

Atlanta, GA ?

Where people need to travel from Richmond VA the most, please feel free to reply.

NYC
There is a bus company that goes from Richmond to NYC and that is the most popular transit destination.

DC
There is also a bus from Richmond to DC, there is a demand but it is not a very advertised market. If you advertise a Richmond to DC bus company I'm sure that you will get customers especially if you run on a NFL Redskins Game Weekend.

Norfolk/VA Beach
I don't know of any private buses that go to the Norfolk area. I would recommend that you go from Richmond to the Newton Rd. Area of VA Beach (since it is central to Virginia Beach and Norfolk) if you want to explore that market.

Other Options
Philly is a destination that may get some people but I wouldn't offer frequent service.
Atlanta....not worth the cost.

That's all the free advice that you will get from me. Hope it helps!

Unless you can beat Chinatown Bus' price from Richmond to DC, NYC, or Philadelphia, I don't necessarily see them being big money makers for a start-up line.

The Richmond to Hampton Roads area line might be popular, especially among students.

I've been out of the area for awhile, but does Groome Transportation still run vans from Richmond to these other places? If so, there's your competition.

What about service to HBCU's Historically Black College Universities. I think there would be lots ridership, HBCU's are pretty much clustered together along to Northeast, Midatlantic, southeast, and few midwest and south. especailly Lincoln University PA, Morris College Sumter SC just to name a few

Am interested in finding out if you have started this bus to Richmond. I am presently in a carpool of folks traveling from Virginia Beach to Richmond. Do you have service in place for these two cities? We travel there for work Mon-Fri and leave here at 6:30. I have come across many people that do the same every day but we were not able to come up with a plan to worked for all. Let me know if something is actually in place. Thanks

Hello daily2richmond
I am a commuter as well who is doing this trip to Richmond on a daily basis.. leaving around the same time as you are. Saw in your post that you car pool. Is there anyway I can join the car pool with you all. With the raising gas prices I would love to ride share.
