ok looking for some help to narrow down our confusion. We are looking to move to virginia, we are avid campers and love coming to virginia so we decided to move there. Our research has caused much confusion. We are moving from south jersey we have 3 kids 11 and under i am a nurse and my husband in construction management, we have family in north carolina, and of course JERSEY. Our needs: great schools have an autistic child , near place that has jobs ,close but not touching hospitals, and near construction areas. We are looking to buy 2 acres or less to build a home . Any body out there have some advise to narrow our search? thanx southjerseygal

She's just looking for land

But that was basically what I was going to ask... how much were you thinking to spend for the land?

Do you want to be on a water/sewer system, or well/septic?
Do you want to be in a neighborhood, or countryside?

What else besides a hospital and good schools would you like near your new home?

I live in Trenton, NJ. My wife and I visited Asheville NC last year and really liked it. A co-worker recommended Charlotte. We are in our late 20's and are looking to settle down in NC, we would like to purchase a home in the 150k to 200k range. We would like to be in a family friendly neighborhood. Close to the outdoors but still near city amenities...Any advice would be much appreciated!

Dan - you might get a bit more help if you posted this in the North Carolina forum. Good luck with your research and move!

Did you get my PM?
I sent you some info on the eastern panhandle of WV, it may fit what you are looking for with the services amenities & employment you mention and put you in a good location to make trips back to NJ or to NC via either I-81 or I-95.
I'm pretty sure that you could build a nice house that fits your needs for the $280k range.
