Hello everyone, I am a soon-to-be college grad from Texas, I'm 22 & I'm Caribbean (from Trinidad) & I am hoping to relocate to either NC or VA...I was originally leaning more towards NC but I have read that their job market is kinda less stable than is Virginia's. I have received my teacher's cert here in TX & I am looking to transfer to VA hopefully. I am a middle grades instructor (English Lang Arts & Reading/Social Studies, grades 4-8)

Which cities in VA are good for an open-minded, young black female teacher who is easy to please & wants to build a stable life for herself?

Tell me about Richmond vs. northern VA (Arlington/Rosslyn, etc.) I've been to the DC area/northern VA metro many times & I like it a lot. However, I don't know if I could live there.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

I think just about any city in Virginia is welcoming. But, all school systems are cutting budgets and positions. I'd say, start applying and the city that offers you a job will be the best city! Once you're hired, you'll be able to ask specific questions about that area and probably get more responses. Best of luck!

The areas are so different, it really depends on what you are looking for. As you have said you've been to the NoVa area many times and apparently didn't like it, why don't you visit other areas?

Default Winchester?

Hello.
I just got a young lady a teaching job i Winchester, Virginia and she relocated from Staten Island, New York and she seems to love the area. She was telling me that she may live in the Winchester area but travel 20 miles to Loundon County for $20,000 increase in just a small drive but living is cheaper in Winchester. I sold her parents a home and she came down to just to get away from the traffic. Thank You and Have A Blessful week.

Norfolk & VA Beach look really attractive to me...I am doing more research on teaching positions for the public school system/VA certifications there.
