Default Ballston Area?

Continuing my apartment search for me and my roommate (I'll be working in Falls Church and she's working in DC). We heard the Ballston area is pretty nice, and are considering some apartments in the area between Arlington Blvd and Clarendon Blvd near the Market Common at Clarendon (according to google maps). Is this a fairly safe location to live?

Thanks for the help.

I have to admit I don't know what the Market Common is in Clarendon (is it the metro stop maybe?), but the closer you are to Clarendon Blvd or Wilson Blvd, the more desirable and the more safe the area is. Arlington is pretty darn safe in general, although North Arlington (north of Arlington Blvd/Route-50) is generally considered safer and more desireable.

Are you looking at apartment buildings (hi-rise), complexes (garden), or houses? In Arlington, the newer highrises are quite nice and in excellent locations, but of course there's the cost...

I live in Ballston within 2 blocks of the Metro stop and there are a few nice buildings here, but I don't have much of a clue as to their rates. I'll try to address any specific questions you may have though.

Market Common is relatively new. It has all the shops and Whole Foods. That area is safe and within walking distance to Clarendon metro station. I would try to stay closer to Clarendon Blvd or Wilson Blvd versus Rt. 50 (Arlington Blvd). The apartments on those two (Clarendon and Wilson) will be nicer and there will be more people out and about at night.

Ah ok, the one with the Container Store and all that? I never noticed the name of that place. Yes that is a great location if the price is agreeable.

Do you have specific names of apartments by any chance...I don't mind doing the research on them. Anything is fine... high rise or garden... whatever is good!
