Default job at The Tides Inn is it worth the move?

Tuff desicion making to do this week. I live and work on the Outer Banks where I make great money, a few days ago I was offered a job at the Tides Inn. I was wondering if anyone could give me a heads up as to what its like to live in the area. I'm 28 and it seems really small do you make good money there. The Tides Inn is a beautiful place but it's 3 hours or more from NOVA so you might want to ask this question on different Virginia forum.

Here are the things that you need to consider before moving to the Northern Neck:

1) Rentals in that area are relatively scarce and the ones that are available aren't really all that great. You can often expect that the pipes are uninsulated and may freeze.

2) The Tides Inn is a seasonal resort with relatively little work in the winter months. Kilmarnock, never all that exciting any portion of the year, is really slow during the winter months.

3) In that area, there is a caste system. If you are an outsider or a person of color, you will have NO social life. When I was living in the area, most of the sports fields were private clubs that could exclude certain portions of the population.

4) For years, the locals kept all of the chain restaurants, retailers and the like out if the area. The closest McDonald's was 30 miles away. The closest discount store was 25 miles south. While that might SEEM ideal, when you need an item and have to pay $15 locally when down in Hampton or Newport News, you can get it for $5, it is a budget buster. That has eased up a little bit over the last decade.

I did two years in Kilmarnock at the hospital when I was in my 20s. On most Saturdays, my wife and I headed to Hampton, Richmond, or even Petersburg for a social life.

As for the pay, most of the jobs that you'll find in the area are pretty low paying compared to the urban areas.

Fortunately, a couple of years ago, Wal-Mart opened a store in the local town of Kilmarnock - arguably the biggest event in the town's history.
