Well, ok that settles that.
I finally tried watching the teen movies...the Twilight series...had no idea they were
actually fun!
When Edward drove the exact car I wanted, that did it.
A Volvo XC70 or 90 will be it.
Thank you, rich, classy vampires for deciding for me.

I love the black, but I can't see 'em as easily on the road.

(Even missed one on my recumbant bike 2 days ago, whew...WAKE UP call!....
dark cars are not easy to see! In fact, I'm easier to see than them!!!)

I think the model Edward drove in Twilight was the Volvo C30, which they're no longer making - darn! I might get a used C30 for my kids to share when they're driving age b/c I love the safety of Volvos in general, and our Volvo XC90 in particular. My only hesitation with the C30 is it's size, and because of that its vulnerability on the road vs. other larger vehicles.

The newer Volvo SUV's are great but the earlier ones were notorious for having transmission problems. If your main concern is safety there are other SUV's that are just as safe. You don't have to limit yourself on a Volvo. They used to be one of the safest vehicles around but nowadays there are many other makes that are just as safe. The competition definitely caught on.

Based on the Subaru forums and Consumer Report's data, the incident rate is extremely low/de minimums for the 2.5L N/A engine. But thanks again for playing.
I might have said this in an earlier post, but it is definitely best to avoid most Volvo's that were produced/sold during the Ford years. Especially the S series models and the SUV or crossover body types. (The S series Volvo's don't seem like real Volvo's to me.) I do own a 2006 XC70 wagon though and have had no problems. She's a great car, 8 years old and people still think she's new. She still drives like new. Very happy with it, and she's great in ice and snow, and camping trips up in the mountains out where there are no roads.
