We may be moving back to the DC area sometime in the next year and I've been looking at houses online in Bethesda and Chevy Chase. We have small children and I was wondering if lots of families with small children live in these neighborhoods and if there are certain sections in particular with a high concentration of young families? I think there were lots of families when I was growing up and I was wondering if it's the same or if it's mostly empty nesters or people without children, or older children. Are the young families still attracted to this area or are they moving elsewhere? Also, how is this area compared with NW DC? It looks like you can get a little more house for your money in DC but how do the schools compare?

I live in Battery Park in Bethesda and have 3 young children. We absolutely love it here. Battery Park is close to downtown Bethesda and is a very walkable community. Lots of young families live here. The schools are excellent - we looked into NW DC too, and while you get more house for your money, you would then have to put your children in private schools more than likely. There are a few good elementary schools though, so you may get by for a while.

Good luck!
