Im currently going to be relocating jobs from Pittsburgh to National Harbor and I was wondering what would a good area be living if I work in the National Harbor. Realistically I only wanna pay 1200 max on everything and im willing to lose a lot of amenities. Ive been looking online at places in Alexandria and the MD side but it seems like all the places ive been looking have all horrible reviews for my price range. Im also not opposed to renting a room in a house either. Does anyone have any recommendations?

What Skeddy said. Hit Craigslist under rooms and shares.

I think it's a severe exaggeration to say $1200 will get you the ghetto; if you just need a studio or room in a house then $1200 is fine. The problem is a lot of the neighborhoods in close proximity to National Harbor aren't nice (besides Alexandria and Nat. Harbor, itself, of course). I'd post in the VA forum, if you haven't already, as most nicer areas down there will be on the VA side.

With the new mgm casino there is alot of demand for affordable housing near that area. Id recommend Fort washington and Oxon hill. Alexandria is very tough to find 1200$ a month. Plenty of shared homes in that area.

I know you can not stay within the National Harbor for $1200 better yet $2000 (comfortably). Perhaps you should get a roommate or up your budget. In the NH, $1600 will get you a Studio without utilities (paid separately).
