You have been Owned!!! Now stop annoying everyone with your pointless rants. Do you bring anything useful to this board? All I ever see you do is complain. What a loser. You must hate life. Try posting some information on the site. I have never read anything from you on any threads on here except complaints. Why is that?
I can answer those questions right after you answer these questions:
Why do you hate for Maryland to widen I-270 to Frederick, Build the Techway from Gaithersburg to Virginia, the Eastern By-Pass(that will parallel US 301), Widen the out-dated one lane(in both directions) Roads(MD 355, MD 97, MD 650, MD 28, MD 190, MD 108, MD 27, MD 117, MD 124, MD 118, MD 115), and extend the Mid-County Highway to Germantown/Clarksburg??????????
Why do you hate for Western Montgomery County to build a Multi-level Upscale MEGA Mall(to rival Tysons Corner I & II) anywhere between Rockville and Urbana along the I-270 Corridor????????
Why do you hate for Western Montgomery County to extend the Metro Red Line Subway to Clarksburg which eliminates the need to waste tax payers money into building trolley like light rails and busways around Gaithersburg that will not benefit the Mass Majority of the Western Montgomery County and Frederick County Tax Payers?????????
Why do you hate for the Green Line Subway to extend(save the BS argument about the MARC Train because I can also say that the MARC Train goes to College Park and Greenbelt which did not effect the progress of building the Green Line to Greenbelt) to BWI Airport via East Columbia/Fort Meade??????????????

1. I didn't say Maryland shouldn't build roads. I said Maryland should build the purple line all the way to the Virginia border's. When that is done, then they can build whatever road they want to with the left over money. Virginia could have continued the purple line with the money they are using to widen their roads. But they don't want to build transit for suburb to suburb commutes. It's all about money and they won't have the money for the purple line which they said they want to build because of the I-495 road widening. I said Maryland should build the CCT first especially because the only way Science City can be built is for that rail line to be built based on the requirements in phases. For someone who talks about Maryland needing jobs, you sure are clueless. Do you know what Science City is? It can't be built without the CCT. You need to start supporting Maryland instead of being a Virginia booster. Do you live there or something?
2. Would love for Lake forest mall to be built like Pentagon City or Tyson's Corner with high rises in a mixed use entertainment/residential center and in fact that is what is planned anyway.
3a. First, how will three station's in (Gaithersburg, Germantown, and Clarksburg) that would cost about 3 billion allow people to live without their cars like DC? People living in the city of Gaithersburg won't need a car to live when they build the network. People living in the suburbs of Gaithersburg will drive into Gaithersburg accounting for most of the traffic in the city. In DC, the traffic is not from D.C. residents. It's mainly from suburbanites which is how Gaithersburg will be. Gaithersburg will have the largest job center in Montgomery County
3b. Everybody will benefit from the network as they commute into Gaithersburg for work just like the D.C. suburbs benefit from metro. People will take the CCT light rail and BRT network into Gaithersburg for work. Keep in mind what is driving the creation of this network in the first place. Future job centers, Science City (52,500 jobs) and Downtown Gaithersburg (21,000 jobs). That isn't even including jobs in other area's of Gaithersburg. The city is projected to have 220,000 jobs. Can you imagine traffic with that many jobs if no transit network existed? 220,000 jobs is over double the jobs in Tyson's Corner right now. Why do you think Tyson's Corner is building a network now after 50 years? Maryland has always been forward thinking so they are building the network first avoiding the huge mistakes Virginia made by not building transit for an area with more jobs than Tyson's Corner.
4. There isn't enough density to build a metro line to BWI. Ridership would be nonexistent. Howard County and Ann Arundel county are not very populated. You can't build a line that far for two stations. Where would the station's go? Would the 6 billion dollars it would take to build metro to BWI be worth it? The Purple Line and CCT together are 2.5 billion only. Building the purple line to Largo, Branch Ave, and National Harbor and extending the CCT to Frederick is much more important IMO. Marc getting upgraded to metro frequency is better to BWI like commuter trains in New York City right now to Newark. Most Airports in NYC don't even have rail access. We will have rail access to all three airports when the silver line is done.
OK.....now you answer my questions.

[quote=marska;18039341, do people really prefer apt. towers? If so, why do you think it true? Just the thought of living in a 12-20 story tower makes my stomach hurt. If I must live in an apartment, I prefer something smaller, more intimate, with easily accessible outdoor space -[/quote]
I am reviving my post as I did not see a response- what do OP's think about high rise apartment life? Does anyone prefer a "garden style" apt? (does anyone live in an apt??)
I SOOOOO miss being able to just open the patio door and walk outside, play with the dog, mess with the flowers, etc.

Developers don't construct garden style apartments in high density corridors anymore. In low density corridor you will find them. Land comes at a premium in cities which is why density is so high trying to contain sprawl. The city of Gaithersburg offers many different neighborhoods with their own character and there is something for everybody. This is the vision for Gaithersburg in the future:
Neighborhoods in the City of Gaithersburg in the future:
North (Uptown)
-Fairgrounds (High Rises, Row Homes, Mid Rises)
-Lake Forest (High Rises, Mid Rises)
-N. Frederick Ave Corridor (High Rises, Mid Rises)
-Watkins Mill Town Center (High Rises, Row Homes, Single Family Homes)
East (Downtown)
-Asbury (High Rises, Single Family Homes, Mid Rises)
-Olde Town (Mid Rises, Row Homes)
-Saybrooke (Single Family Homes, Town Homes, Low Rise)
-E Deer Park (Single Family Homes)
West
-Kentlands (Row Homes, Single Family Homes, High Rises)
-Lakelands (Single Family Homes, Row Homes, Low Rise)
-Quince Orchard (Single Family Homes, Town Homes, Low Rise)
South
-Rosemont (Single Family Homes, Low Rise, Row Homes)
-W Deer Park (Single Family Homes, Row Homes, Town Homes, Low Rise)
-S Frederick Ave. Corridor (Mid Rises)
-Crown Farm (Row Homes, High Rises)
-Washingtonian Center (High Rises, Town Homes)
Then you have the Gaithersburg suburbs:
Northern Suburb
-Montgomery Village (Single Family Homes, Town Homes, Low Rise, Mid Rise, High Rise)
Eastern Suburb
-Flower Hill (Single Family Homes, Town Homes, Low Rise)
-East Montgomery Village (Single Family Homes, Town Homes)
-124 corridor (Single Family Homes, Town Homes, Low Rise)
Western Suburb
-Derwood (Single Family Homes)
Southern Suburb
-North Potomac (Single Family Homes)
So as you can see there is a huge amount of housing to choose from. When the development is done, people will pick which neighborhood works for their needs and everyone is happy. People who want a slower life style with less density can move to a neighborhood that offers that.

I'm glad someone understands! I'm not opposed to density, and very pro-transit, but please give me a little piece of earth and sky...how about a list of those places that offer a wee bit of outdoor space?

To get that true feeling, rent a TH or condo (short building) from a private owner. I have yet to see a place like one I had in Kew Gardens, NYC, where you had a small driveway with fence, a porch to sit and look out, lil back yard for pooch to run, with no more than one other person above or below etc..

Do private owners/real estate companies sometimes rent townhomes for longer than 2 years? (I'm thinking 3-5 years).
And who is responsible for maintenance i.e. the heater breaks down, if you're renting from an owner?

Yes, my last TH I had one tenant in there for close to 10 years. When the heater broke, I replaced it. Every lil shower leak etc, I took care of since I didn't want them to delay fixing it.. However when the drain clogged up, and I failed to get it unclogged, she footed the bill since we had to get it professionally done. She had sent eggplant skin down the garbage disposal which clogged it pretty good at the downturn which was quite a few feet over from the sink. Everything should be in the lease......
