Hi all - I need to be in DC (Metro Center) Saturday night. Coming from Hagerstown area. Should I drive to Shady Grove and ride in, or try to shorten the ride on the subway and park at White Flint and ride in from there?

Also, will there be a parking fee on the weekend? If so, do I need to buy a smart card and put money on it to get out of the lot?

Thanks.

Metrorail suburban parking lots are always free of charge on Sat. and Sun.'s, with no Smart card required, and there are usually plenty of spaces. I don't know if the Cherry Blossom Parade would mean more cars than usual, however, earlier that day ?

You can compare/ research the fare costs of riding from one station versus the other, as well as the trains' operating hours, here Metro - Home page (train service shuts down for several hours, during the wee hours every night). I believe there is a 24-hour limit on parking at Metrorail lots.

As mentioned elsewhere in the thread, Metro parking lots are free on Sat. and Sun. No Smartrip needed.
