Hello:

They're telling me I have to have my vehicle safety-inspected to get a Maryland driver's license and to register my car. Do you know of anyone qualified to do this who doesn't charge an arm and a leg? I live in SS, but am prepared to travel if the price is right. Thanks.

Take it to any garage. It's either fixed or pretty much the same and nobody's charging an arm and a leg.

Be aware that MD's inspection is a one-time only/when the car changes hands outside immediate family thing and is a tough inspection because of that. Things that other states with inspection programs will let go until next time get flagged here.

Where will they go easy on me?

I don't know where you are so I can't give a recommendation. The State closed down the "lick'em and stick'em" places I knew about 10 or so years ago.

you really don't want them to "go easy" on you.
and on behalf of everyone else driving near you in SS...
I wouldn't want them to go easy on you either.

what you should want is a fair deal and you'll get that at any station.
But if your car really does need work... then "fair" will include that.

MrRational, your logic seems a hair fuzzy to me.
