Md. commission proposes 15-cent increase in gas tax - The Washington Post

I'm good with it, so long as it gets the Red and Purple light rail lines built. If it doesn't help fund those and get those started, then I'm not good with it.

The man is insane. They'll have to factor in how many people will find it cheaper to drive into PA, DE, WV, VA or DC to fuel up.

They'll have to factor in how many people will find it cheaper to sell, uproot and relocate
into PA, DE, WV, VA or DC than pay the extra to fuel up for the period it takes until
those other districts to add a similar or some other tax. Or... they already have.

Since I live in PG county near the bridge I could in theory fill up in VA but what I've noticed is the prices at pumps in Alexandria are more than my local pump. Even factoring the tax it'll probably still be higher.

Dc is worse. So looks like I'm going to have to eat the increase.

This wouldn't bother me if they weren't already jacking up the tolls all over the state.

I agree...if this goes to the red and purple lines I am 100% behind the tax increase. It hasn't been increased since gas was above $1.

Ok, finance the Purple and Red Lines, charge a realistic fare so those of us in the rest of the State won't be eating so much of the cost for a facility we'll never use, but most importantly:

STOP RAIDING THE HIGHWAY TRUST FUND TO BALANCE THE GENERAL FUND, which successive Governors have been doing since at least Glendenning.
