This is a repost from the DC forum.
Hi. My family (wife and 2 year old son) is looking to rent, preferably a furnished apartment for up to 6 months, and be near a Kaiser Permanente medical center to have our baby. We would hope to pay up to $1,200 a month for a 1 bedroom. Where could we find a decent neighborhood for such a price starting mid to late July. Please, any suggestions?

Are you talking about the KP near H street, by Union Station? Hmmm... Have you tried Craigslist? You might start seeing July rental postings there in the next couple of weeks. are you wanting to stay in DC, or are you considering Maryland? For Maryland, the Takoma Park area isn't far away, and maybe even portions of Silver Springs. There are some decent apartment corporations out both directions. Maybe look at Southern Management properties, and maybe even others. I know some people like the gentrification of the Petworth area, and they have regulated rates if you need them (like the residences at Georgia avenue).
I don't really know much about that area, but it is close and is going through transition. I'm not sure with a 2 yr old though. Maybe others here can help.

The Kaiser Center on Plum Orchard Drive in Silver Spring is near some reasonably priced townhouses and apartments, and it's a decent area. However, your budget is tight, as I found only a few when I used hotpads.com . Takoma Park was a good suggestion. I think College Park also might be a good place to look for sublets from students or professors.
