The tracks for LRT and signal systems are more expensive to build , often for commuter rail you just upgrade the tracks you have....

Branch Ave is SOMD compared to DC or Baltimore. A Metro line out of PGC is a pipe dream. the state can't put together a cohesive set of plans to accommodate automobile traffic and you would need major arteries to get to/from any stations built. The Branch avenue station is usually full by 9:30 so there is no parking there. Every other station nearby is filled up as well so tough. We are not Europe and can't have their form of public transportation. The USA is a nation of sprawl and that means we live under every rock imaginable.
