I am curious what the traffic is like going from Silver Spring to Manassas on a Friday morning. It's not a regular commute, but just a one time thing. I'm new to the area and have no idea what to expect. My time frame is somewhat flexible. Ideally I'd like to leave Silver Spring around 8:00 and arrive around 9:00, but I know this is probably unrealistic. Any suggestions on taking this route, and the best way to do so? For example, if I left at 7, 8, 9, or 10, what time could I expect to arrive in Manassas?

I live in north SS. A few years ago I drove to Manassas on a Saturday afternoon and it took a little over an hour. 495 to 66. Of your time slots, 10 would be the best, since you would miss the worst of the commuting traffic.

I agree on leaving after 10. The beltway between SS and Bethesda is quite jammed during am rush hr.
