Angry Teaching in MCPS

I just graduated from college back in May and had a heck of a difficult time trying to let alone score interviews. I had two the whole entire summer.
I applied to MCPS, they have yet to call me for a screening interview. Anyone teach at MCPS, are they still on a hiring freeze? Will they need teachers this year? I'm so desperate for a job right now.

They may not be on a freeze but next year's numbers aren't in yet. Tenured teachers have until Monday (I think) to resign without a hassle and retirees will go until right before the first day of school.

What is your field, that will impact the number of people they need/want?

I'm elementary ed, the most competitive. Wow, retirees are allowed to come back and teach full time? I've never heard that one before.

In some circumstances, but I meant they have another couple weeks to decide to retire.

Yeah, ElEd is tough.

Yes, it's very tough. Not just MoCo, I did PDS at Anne Arundel and even they're not calling me.

I teach in MCPS and it took me 2 years to get a job with them. Keep checking the job listings or try private schools in the area

I will say in Frederick county the best way is to start sub'ing and become known in the system. It may be different in MoCo but I have heard people from many other systems say the same thing. And yes it is tough I believe One eastern shore county had to get rid of almost everyone with less than 5 years in the system because of budget reductions. That would mean there are teachers with several years experience looking for positions as well as administrators who lost their positions when the ir schools were closed who are willing to go back to the classroom

But is there a possibility of still being interviewed by the county to be in their system? Or is it too late now?

I really don't want to do subbing! I'm dreading subbing!

Send in your app if you haven'y already done so. The big systems (Montgomery, PG, Baltimore County and City and Anne Arundel) hire through September. People quit, they get promoted, they retire at the last minute, they die in all those systems.

I sent my apps, we'll see what happens. I've been calling and bugging HR people and they have literally told me "Sorry, but it's all just a waiting game."
It's so frustrating!
