Default Stay away from this house in Laurel!

I want to warn everyone to stay away from 8311 Honey Hill Road in Laurel, Maryland. Do NOT rent from this nasty landlady by the name of Nancy Fang Shuo Hsu. This lady seriously got some issues. She harrassed us all the way from the beginning and came up with unreasonable new rules for us. You pretty much have to do everything her way and follow her rules because you are living in "her house" and it's "her house". If you don't listen to her, she will find ways to get back at you. Now she is deducting a big sum of money from our security deposit for some stupid reasons like leaving a tub dirty, a tub that we have never used because we only use the shower, and blaming us for things that were in a bad condition on the day we moved in. If you do not want to have a miserable life and you don't want to waste your time dealing with crazy people that will only make you angry, then please please please stay away!

They'll probably delete this post. You should have gone to apartment.com or a similar site. Or Yelp or Google reviews would have made more sense.

Okay just curious, what does taking a shower have to do with not getting a tub dirty? I'm not really sure why taking a shower changes anything because a shower can still get a tub dirty . Also, you don't have to do anything that is not written in the lease. If she didn't put it in writing in the lease then it shouldn't matter.

I took this to imply that the shower and bath tub were two separate things like you see in many modern bathrooms.

If she docked your deposit because she felt that you did not do your due diligence in cleaning up after yourself, it is justifiable unless it is explicitly stated in the contract that you are not responsible for cleaning anything upon move-out (which is unlikely).

However, if you take it to court it is incumbent on the landlord to prove that you did not do your due diligence, which from what it sounds like it will be hard for her to do. Even so, it may cost you more to sue her in civil court than to let it go.

And I know most people would disagree, but venting your frustration out on the Internet is actually a good way to release your anger, so don't let anyone stop you... although, just be careful that you won't be embarassed about anything you write later on.
