Hi I hope someone can help me out with this. I've gotta make a decision tomorrow morning. I have a new job in the district and metro is paid by the company up to 105.00 a mo. I have two elementary aged children. I found two reasonably affordable places to rent. One is in Woodbridge, Va. off of Dale City Road a TH for 1250.00 (its a nice 3 br) and the other is a small 2br older detached home in Silver Springs not far from the Twinbrook Metro stop for 1300.00

As near as I can figure the commute from Woodbridge will involve a 20 min drive to nearest metro and then 45 min from Springfield or the VRE with a 45min ride, which will cost around 250.00 a month if I understand the rates chart.

The Silver Spring commute will cost me about 148.00 a month if I understand the metro ratings too. With a 30 min total commute

Cost wise and commute wise, it seems that Silver Spring is the better answer. The other considerations I really need to nail down, is quality of schools and safe community....

Thank you for your help! Oh and I'm moving in from out of state, from the midwest.

Silver Spring would be a fine place to live. The county schools are excellent. While the house is smaller, its a reasonable price for the area.

The commute from Woodbridge would be a grind every day.
