I just recently got an apartment at Archstone Wheaton Station and I move in mid next month, but my job is in Forestville, so I know I have a long commute ahead of me. My work schedule is pretty flexible but I normally work from 7a-3:30p M-F, just wondering if anyone else makes a similar commute and can provide me with some advice on what time I should leave my house in the morning. Also does traffic on Georgia Ave get backed up pretty bad around 6am?

Also, if there is anyone on here that has lived in Archstone Wheaton Station or in the area before please let me know how the area is or if you have had any problems

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the neighborhood. I used to live in Kemp Mill, but commuted to Virginia or Baltimore, so i can't help much with the commute to Forestville. I think that leaving early and heading east on University to the Beltway makes more sense than getting on Georgia Avenue to go to the Beltway.

The Archstone building is very new and part of the gentrification of Wheaton. The only problems you will see are minor things like the teenagers hanging around the metro station. I hope you have underground parking, as there won't be good street parking.

Is the grocery store re-building completed next door to your building? Otherwise the closest store is the Giant at Wheaton mall.

Thank you so much for your reply, I will try taking University Blvd to the beltway, hopefully that will be better. The Safeway is still under construction but seems like it will be done by next year, but the Giant isn't too far. I am pretty happy about moving, the area seems great. Anyone else?

I found these pictures of the construction of the new Safeway building with apartments above: Construction Update: Safeway in Wheaton - Wheaton, MD Patch

The apartments will be called The Exchange at Wheaton Station, and the complex will have a dry cleaner, a bank and a coffee shop. I believe it will further the gentrification of the area around the Wheaton Metro.
