I'm a liberal Democrat. But I'm an American first. I wrote my senior thesis on Maryland's redistricting process and it is a disgrace. The third congressional district which I live in, stretches from the northwest Baltimore suburb of Owings Mills to the edge of the Capital Beltway. There's no rhyme or reason for designing a district like this. While research suggest partisan redistricting processes aren't the cause for polarization or a lack of competitive districts, I'd argue that they hurt people's faith in in the democratic process. I'll be voting against the map. Hopefully Maryland's redistricting process can be replaced by an independent nonpartisan redistricting process like they have in Arizona.

They think exactly how you expect. Black republicans are left without a voice and this redistricting is being forced upon them by those who think they know what is best for them.
It is gerrymandering at it's finest.

I don't know if the word "nonpartisan" exists in MD politics.

Are you two for real? Where exactly are these black Republicans? You and InvaderBryce have no idea what you are talking about. Please point out to me districts that could be made that would assist black Republicans. I repeat: there are no black Republican areas You're trying to make it about race and that is wrong. Why don't you care about black Democrats, who outnumber black Democrats 10 to 1? Why make it about race at all, don't right wingers supposedly want a colorblind society? It bears repeating again, there are no black Republican areas. Please show me a black Republican area since you believe they exist

I know that. I'm just saying, the Liberals in this state are doing the same things Conservatives do down south in regards to redistricting.

Obviously, you love partisan politics because you defend O'Malley and his Liberal Democratic policies so much.

There are plenty of black republicans in the state. Just because they don't have a town named as such doesn't mean none exist. No one is trying to make it about race; you just see it that way. I think the topic concerned redrawing voting districts to make the state entirely democrat which is totally skewed.
Everyone should have a voice politically regardless of color. I take it you presume all republicans to be white and democrats black. You used the term right-wingers and your sentence went downhill from there.

Post a poll on here and find out how many black conservative republicans there may be on this forum.

What does this mean? " Why don't you care about black Democrats, who outnumber black Democrats 10 to 1?"

Thanks to oneworld25 for explaining clearly. I am tempted to read your senior thesis on Maryland's redistricting process.

Marylanders should vote against Question 5 - Baltimore Sun
Anything the Governor is doing is to help Democrats win election. Simple as that

Vote NO

Definitely against. I am in Roscoe Bartlett's new district - I live in Montgomery Village and am voting in the same district as Frostburg? No way.
