Let's see what happens in 2014 when ACA kicks in for real and trumps the state. Is this state big enough to take the federal government to court over it like other states have?

Do the ACA and MD state law conflict? I did not see that suggested in the article. The article seems to suggest that some of the ACA's principles actually work in real life.

Like I said, let's wait and see.

And you are basing this on... ? Have you actually seen anything that suggests a conflict? I was reading an article today that suggested that the ACA is already showing some success while being implemented in CA.

CA is virtually a socialist state. Most who can are moving away from there like roaches.

And you are basing this on... ? California has the 8th largest economy in the world, doesn't it? Isn't Silicon Valley in CA, as well as some major agriculture, and the tv and movie industry? I was reading a really interesting article the other day about a new U.S. clothing manufacturer based in... California. Wouldn't "socialism" have quashed all that? Everyone I know who moved to CA or grew up there loves it and refuses to leave and they all seem to think the east coast is a giant bummer.

Can't speak for NorCal but spent some years in SoCal.

It's a great place but its too bad the government over there only cares about criminals and illegals. Most businesses in California can't expand within the state as it is costly so they'd have to go out to other states to take advantage of their tax breaks and whatnot. There is also Diane Feinstein and Nancy Pelosi. 2 of the most clueless figures in today's politics.

This about stole my thunder and is what I have heard from several people I know who lived/worked/retired there and had money. They now live in midwest or southern states. If you work in CA social services you will be employed forever; overworked and underpaid.
CA is a fun place to go for recreation or business reasons but the cost of living is crazy. I have family in OR and ID who will say the same. If you ever read news from CO and TX you will come across references of Californians flocking to those and other states - like Europeans fleeing that continent 150 years ago - to be away from that mess.
The NorCal group is liberal to the point of scary. Feinstein wants to repeal the 2A. It can't happen and attempting to do so is treason.
What's funny is the closer you get to OR the more normal the residents become.
