I've been in the NOVA forum lately and it seems they always have something disrespectful to say about Maryland. What I don't understand we never disrespect NOVA but every chance they get NOVA always makes a Snide comment

* Here a example:

"you know you're from NoVa when you thank your lucky stars every day that you aren't a product of Md school systems.

you know you're from NoVa when you know that your rent at GMU is more than a mansion in PG, and it makes sense to you"

Why do you care what other people think? More to the point, why would you care what people say on an internet forum where being nameless and faceless encourages stupidity?

There are some negative comments about Maryland on the NoVa Forum and there are plenty of negative comments about Maryland on this forum. There is almost always some kind of thread where the same handful of people mindlessly trash or defend PG county. Most of those comments say more about the person posting than they do about Maryland.

Somehow I doubt that anybody saying: "you know you're from NoVa when you thank your lucky stars every day that you aren't a product of Md school systems." is taking time off from his MacArthur Fellowship "Genius Grant" to post. Regarding "you know you're from NoVa when you know that your rent at GMU is more than a mansion in PG, and it makes sense to you" why would I care what some GMU student thinks?

If I wanted to live in Virginia, I'd live there. I chose Maryland and what other people think isn't relevant.

This is a transient area. When people move here they're mystified about this whole MD vs. VA thing.

For people who grew up here, or have been here for a while, I guess it's natural to want to say their city is best.
But it's all personal preference, no one area will suit everyone.

Before the economic collapse and before the massive gentrification, Maryland was always known as a liberal state compared to conservative Virginia.
The differences between residents living in both states were clearly established.

However after the economic crises, a majority of suburban Maryland residents surrounding the DC metro area are now highly conservative. Almost like a Virginia spillover.

I am assuming you mean the opposite. Maryland is even more liberal than it was before and Northern VA is becoming more blue.

It's a two way streak. MD doesn't really like NOVA either. D.C. doesn't really like NOVA either for that matter. NOVA identifies with the south while D.C. and Maryland identifies with the north more.

Montgomery Co schools are actually pretty good. Think this is more of a rip against PG coutny.

Only people who live in NOVA thinks NOVA is cool. They are blind. It's just like people who live in Texas. They think Texas is heaven when the rest of the county thinks it's a backwater.

Unfortunately true - I have family over there and blue isn't becoming.

SOVA is still red.
