Glad someone posted this.. I work in the DC area and have considered relocating from Baltimore City to one of the areas around the DC Beltway. I like Baltimore City (gasp) but I know as I older I am not going to want to do the MARC train commute forever. So, I have been slowly looking at Mt Rainer, Hyattsville, North Brentwood, Riverdale, College Park, Riverdale Park and a few others.. I like what is occurring in Hyattsville's Arts District... Mt. Rainer seems more like rehab of existing commercial district.. but doesnt offer the variety that the Arts District does.. atleast not yet. I wouldnt mind a four square on one of the blocks just off of downtown.. But it seems that most need work and its a hodge podge of housing conditions from house to house.. which I guess is why prices are more reasonable than across the line in DC. Anyway any other insight on Mt. Rainer.. crime, schools, etc would be appreciated.. I live on Baltimore City.. so I have a certain tolerance for "city life" however; I wouldnt expect some of those same issues in a smaller city like Mt. Rainer or Hyattsville.. atleast I hope not....

Keep in mind that Mr. Rainier is a a hop skip and a jump from Hyattsville and the Arts District.
