Hi,
the wmata site says there is no daily parking at this station; are there buses or shuttles from round town to get to the Takoma metro station?
if one has to take some sort of transportation - either one's own car or a bus/shuttle, are there other stations besides takoma park that would work for someone living there?or alternatively is the drive from Takoma Park to the Sackler Museum area fairly easy?
thanks,
W.

The whole bus system, both Metro and Ride-on, is designed to take people to and from the Metro stations. You can use the trip planner: Metro - Rider Tools - Trip Planner

The Ride-On bus route are here, and the 12, 13, 14 or 16 might work: http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/do...eonroutes.html

If you really have to drive a car to the Metro, I think the Rhode Island Avenue stop has more parking, and Fort Totten has some parking.

I definitely would not drive downtown to the Sackler Gallery as the parking downtown is so expensive. If you are going on the weekend, the parking at Metro stops is often free.

The parking at Takoma is metered. I don't recall the max time allowed, but I believe it's plenty for your day trip. There's also multiple parking garages (metered, again, but I know some of those spots are long-term) for the neighboring Silver Spring station. Ft Totten parking can be tricky since it fills up quickly during the week.

Silver Spring is probably your best bet for a weekend day trip. They have garages there on the weekend which are free. They are pretty cheap during the week if memory serves me right.
There are also lots of buses in the Takoma area.
