I am looking to live in Germantown. My husband will be working in Bethesda. Is there a train from Germantown to the Metro stop in Shady Grove or Rockville. The map I have shows some sort of rail line going through Germantown.

Thanks for any info.

There is the MARC which is a commuter train that leaves once or twice in the AM headed for Union Station (and returns later in the afternoon). I'm not sure what stops you could transfer between MARC and Metro. I'd check out: Maryland Transit Administration Home Page for more info on planning your commute.

the MARC train stops in Rockville. The Metro and MARC trains run right beside each other and the stops are in the same building/station/facility.

Yes, there is the MARC train that serves this area, however, it does not serve Bethesda; it heads to Silver Spring before going to Union Station. You would, therefore, have to transfer to the Red Line at Rockville- I am pretty sure there is a RideOn bus, or a few, which comes near you house, that will take you to Shady Grove Metro- short ride to Bethesda on the Red Line.

When I lived in Germantown, everyone I knew took the bus to the Shady Grove Metro station, then continued either by another bus or by the Metro...
