Depends on who you ask.
I think the neighborhoods are very different, so you'd have to check out each neighborhood that you're interested in. I have family members who live in older sections of Bowie, who have no problems with the neighborhood, but send their kids to catholic private schools. If schools are really important, then you'll have to be very cautious about what school district you move to- some schools are definitely better than others. I also know people who live nearby Bowie Town Center, and refer to it as Bowie Crime Center.
Bowie is not a new area, it has a lot of older, established neighborhoods, so can't really be considered up and coming, but there is new construction going on.

Bowie area school is on par with the other Affulent county schools in maryland. Bowie have plenty of Affulent communities. Bowie have plenty of nice neighborhood so it depends upon how much you want to spend or Do you want a newer community of older community. I move to Pg county with my family after viisitng Bowie. I love the area. All the homes have beautiful manicured lawn. The communities are very well kept. Which I love but I settled down In Upper Marlboro.

Thank you both for the information. Would I be right to say that these schools Heather, Rockledge, Tulip Grove, and Whitehall are the ones that parents want to get their children in? As for a community we want one that is safe, but friendly so old or new doesn't matter. We do though want a single family house since we are moving from cramped, live on top of each other, UK.
